With the prairie trials in the planning stages and August nearing, we are announcing the plans for the season's Prairie Awards, chairman John Criswell said.
The William F. Brown Award winner remains the dog which accumulates the most points on a scale of 10 for champion, 5 for runner-up times entry in what is considered by many the purest award criteria and the classic test - all age championships conducted exclusively on wild game in the grand prairie country of Canada, North and South Dakota and Kansas -- the Saskatchewan, Dominion, Border International, All America, Southwestern, Mid-America, Sunflower

in the 2002 season because of short entries, cancellations of stakes and no firm policy announced before the season began This season, Derby stakes run in conjunction with the Brown Award Championships will be included, plus Derby stakes run at an hour for a minimum of three consecutive seasons on wild game in prairie country, and The American Field Quail Futurity. Points will be calculated 10-5-2 for half hour stakes, 12-7-3 for hour stakes with minimum entry of 12.
